Introduction


Hang Seng Management College (HSMC), restructured from the former Hang Seng School of Commerce, was established in 2010 as a non-profit-making private university-level institution with five Schools (Business, Communication, Decision Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, and Translation), about 5,000 full-time students and 185 full-time faculty members. Adopting the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, HSMC is a residential-type institution which puts quality teaching and students’ all-round development as its highest priorities. Aspiring to be a leading private university in Hong Kong, HSMC features top-quality faculty members, award-winning green campus facilities, innovative degree programmes, impactful research, and excellent student support services, with the aim of nurturing young talents with critical thinking, innovative minds, human caring and social responsibilities.

 

As the College becomes more mature and will seek for the “University” title soon, it has also been strengthening its internal governance structure and HR policy by adopting an international open search for appointing important academic leadership position of Dean of School since 2016.

Responsibilities


The School of Humanities and Social Science currently has 4 academic departments offering degree programmes in Chinese, Applied and Human-Centred Computing, English and Asian Studies. Another new programme in Cultural and Creative Industries is in the pipeline and is expected to be launched in the academic year 2017-18.

 

Applicants Should


The appointees should have an international academic standing in a relevant discipline, relevant academic leadership experience, and impactful contributions to the profession and the community.

 

The Deanship appointment will be for an initial term of 3 years renewable. He/She will be a member of the senior management team and is expected to provide visionary leadership in effecting the academic objectives of the School covering student admission, programme developments and accreditations, teaching and learning, research developments, and external partnerships and services.

 

Salary will be competitive and will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
