Research Assistant II (holding the functional title of Statistical Assistant) in the Faculty of Social Sciences for the Public Opinion Programme (Ref.: 201700557) (to commence as soon as possible for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal)

 

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, General Mathematics or other related disciplines with at least 1 year's work experience. They should have high proficiency in MS applications, particularly in Excel; good knowledge of statistical applications (such as SPSS, R, SAS); a strong problem-solving skill with great numerical sense; high integrity; and a strong sense of responsibility. They should be self-motivated, logical, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure and handle multi-tasks. Those with work experience in research field and good programming skills are preferred. The appointee will conduct data processing and statistical analysis for various research projects; perform time series analysis, indexes building and data mining; develop data archiving and retrieval system; provide statistical and analytical solutions upon request; and provide technical support to the survey unit.
