We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research in Finance and Banking within the University of Dundee School Of Business (UDSB), which is part of Social Sciences. The successful candidate would be expected to take an active role in the teaching of our successful postgraduate Banking and Finance programmes, support undergraduate teaching and be actively involved in new curricula development. In addition to teaching and administrative duties the successful candidate will undertake excellent research with demonstrable impact. Pursuit of external grant funding and regularly publishing research papers in top ranked journals are essential along with a strategy for knowledge exchange.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the research activities of Finance and Banking/Accounting and Finance at the highest level and publish excellent outputs (REF 3-4*) in leading journals and international conferences
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange with other academic or industrial partners
  • Support the full economic cost of research by generating grant income and/or industrial funding
  • Supervise research students
  • Develop and deliver UG and PG modules in both theoretical and practical settings, wherein expertise in quantitative and econometric methods would be particularly welcome
  • Use innovative methods to deliver high quality and effective teaching at all levels in taught postgraduate courses, equipping students with the skills and attributes fit for future careers.
  • Supervise multi-disciplinary research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, ensuring that each student receives an outstanding research experience
  • Carry out a range of administrative tasks within the school and provide academic support to students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others and an effective team member
  • You will be expected to travel on occasional University business to support the recruitment and/or partnership activities.
  • Maintain a personal development programme as agreed with academic line manager.

Essential:

- First or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline allied to banking and finance

- PhD in a relevant subject in Finance and Banking, or closely aligned areas of study

- Clear evidence of excellence in University learning and teaching

- Experience of quantitative & econometric teaching in relation to accounting and finance

- Experience of designing challenging exam/coursework and providing quality feedback

- Experience of supervision of undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate student projects

- Research orienated, producing excellent academic outputs and seeking research funding

- Participate in the supervision of doctoral students (PhD, DBA and ProfDoc)

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Willingness to engage with enterprise and outreach activities

- Ability to engage and travel in occasional overseas recruitment activities

- Membership of a Professional Body

- Membership of the Higher Education Academy
