Tasks: The employment relates to education, research and administration within the institution's education at the undergraduate, advanced and research level. Teaching includes course responsibility and course administration as well as supervision of students at the master's and master's level, as well as on postgraduate education. The work tasks also include actively applying for external research funds and following developments in their own subject area, preferably with their own research, and the social development in general that is important for the work at the university.

 

Qualification Requirements: Qualifying to be employed as a university lecturer is, according to the Higher Education Ordinance, the one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific qualifications, has completed university education or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge and demonstrated pedagogical skills. According to Uppsala University's employment scheme, as a general qualification requirement for teachers, the ability to perform the work is also required. According to the employment plan, the person who is to be employed as a university lecturer must also have shown the teaching ability required for the employment and, in addition, if special reasons have not been undertaken, have undertaken university activities relevant to higher education education.

 

Ability to teach Swedish or English is a requirement. It is desirable that the applicant master the ability to teach both in the Swedish and English language. 

 

Those who fail to meet the qualification requirements for university education are expected to acquire these skills within one year after the employment has commenced.

 

Assessment criteria: When selecting among qualified candidates, equal importance will be attached to scientific and educational skills . When assessing the scientific skill, particular importance will be attached to ongoing research as well as the ability to independently initiate and conduct research in the specified areas for the tasks.

 

Equal care will be given to the examination of the educational skill as the scientific skill. The examination of the pedagogical skills refers to the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of teaching as supervision and examination. The pedagogical skills must be well documented so that the quality can be judged. Otherwise, refer to the Guidelines for Appointment of Teachers, Chapter 7, Guidelines for Merit Evaluation in Appointment of Teachers.

 

The university will in this recruitment mainly take into account who, after a comprehensive assessment of documented qualifications, skills and proficiency, is expected to have the best prerequisites for implementing and developing current tasks and contributing to a positive development of the business.

 

Assessment criteria; Other skill : Administrative skill is important for the job and will be given weight. Even the ability to interact with the surrounding society and to inform about research will be taken into account.

 

Administrative skills are demonstrated by the ability of overall business planning, skill in managing business and staff as well as ability to collaborate. Ability to inform about research is shown through popular science activities, such as Participation in public education work, publication of popular science journals and participation in public debate in education and research issues.

 

Personal relationships (eg parental leave) that may be relevant to the merit evaluation should be stated in connection with the statement of qualifications and experience.
