Assistant researcher to the Department of Political Science

 

The Department of Political Science is an open and socially-oriented institution, in the middle of the city and in the middle of the debate. Our research focuses on elections, democracy, corruption, governance, globalization, environment and politics, as well as European issues. The Department hosts research programs such as the QoG Institute, the Center for Collective Action Research (CeCAR), Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem), Governance and Local Development (GLD) and the Swedish Electoral Research Program. We have education at all levels, first level advanced level and research level, as well as independent courses. Teaching is given in both Swedish and English. A total of about 1,300 people study with us. The Department of Political Science has around 140 employees. We are located in central locations in Gothenburg.

 

The Department of Political Science seeks a deputy researcher for a fixed-term employment for four months, in an amount of 100% full-time in the research project Corruption and Wildlife Management, sponsored by the Swedish Research Council. The Logics of Collective Action in Transnationally Protected Reserves, led by Sverker Jagers, Martin Sjöstedt and Aksel Sundström.

 

duties

The part of the project that the Deputy Assistant Researcher will work focuses on collecting data through deep interviews with actors in protected areas in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as carrying out literary reviews on the topic of corruption in transnational reserves. The work will therefore consist of writing research reviews on this topic and partly conducting interviews.

 

qualifications

You will have a university education specializing in political science or other university education deemed appropriate. It is a pretext to have good knowledge of the literature on collective action and transnational reserves, as well as on corruption in natural resource management. Knowledge and experience of interviews with actors under similar circumstances is a prerequisite for employment. The work requires great accuracy, independence and initiative. In addition, very good knowledge is required in both Swedish and English as well as knowledge in statistical analysis and data management

 

Employment

The employment is full-time for 4 months with placement at the Department of Political Science. Access September 1.
