W2-S-Professorship for "Sociology of Social Policy"



As of 1 January 2018 .



The Institute of Social Sciences combines sociology and political science, and is dedicated to the theoretical and methodological investigation of the transformation of modern societies and their institutions.



The "Sociology of Social Policy" is a part of the interdisciplinary social policy research program (FIS) sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The professorship is located at the Institute of Social Sciences and is co-sponsored by the Department of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin).



Applicants should be excellently indicated in the area of sociology and social policy through internationally visible publications. The key research point is the link between social inequality and social policy on an empirical-quantitative basis. In addition to relevant theoretical and methodological knowledge and didactic skills, the prerequisite for an application is the ability to teach in the BA and MA courses of study relevant to the professorship as well as to participate in the structured doctoral education of the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences.



The professorship is appointed by a joint appointment committee of HU and DIW Berlin. The holder will perform assignments in teaching and research at HU as well as research assignments at the DIW Berlin.



Candidates must meet the requirements for appointing a professor. ยง 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act.
