PhD fellow in public policy and administration

 

At the University of Agder there is a vacant 100% temporary position as a fellow for a period of 3 years, or four years with a 25% employment obligation. The position is attached to the Department of Political Science and Management, Faculty of Social Sciences. The place of work is Kristiansand. More information about the PhD program can be found here: http://www.uia.no/studier/forskerutdanning/specialisering-in-public-administration

 

Description of the position

The position is funded by the university and falls under one of the Institute's two research groups - Governance and Leadership in the Public Sector GOLEP. The focus of the research group is on public institutions at all administrative levels, and the proposed PhD project must fall within the framework of (one or more) of the group's permanent members' core themes and empirical areas. More information on GOLEP's thematic research areas, analytical and theoretical perspectives, selected publications and ongoing projects can be found here: https://www.uia.no/en/research/samfunnsvitenskap/governance-and-leadership-in-the-public sector

 

Qualifications and terms

Further details of the position as a fellow student are set out in the Regulations on employment conditions for posts as postdoctoral, fellow, academic assistant and special candidate, determined by the Ministry of Education on 31 January 2006, pursuant to the Law on Universities and Colleges, Section 6-4.

 

The applicant is expected to complete his PhD thesis within the timeframe of the employment. Applicants must have the necessary qualifications for admission to the doctoral program in public administration . That is, the minimum masters degree in the field of political science, public administration, or equivalent. The position requires the ability to work purposefully, tidy, concentrated and independent. In the assessment, emphasis is placed on the results obtained, as well as possible development work and published work and project sketches. Relevant practice, personal fitness and teamwork will be emphasized. From the university it is emphasized that the candidate must be ensured good guidance. Current candidates will be invited for interview.

 

Applicants must submit a project description of a maximum of 10 pages, including literature list. The project description must contain a preliminary presentation of the problem, theoretical basis, method of data collection, and progress plan for the doctoral project. The quality of the project description will weigh heavily in assessing the applicants. The position will be obsessed on the basis of an overall assessment of documented professional competence.

The position is placed in the state wage regulation plan 17,515, fellow, code 1017, kr. 436,900 pr. year. From the salary, statutory deposits are deducted from the National Pension Fund.
