The National Center for Learning Environment and Measurement Research (Learning Environment Center) is a nationwide center with a board established by the Ministry of Education. Prior to being part of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities, the Center is part of a network of eleven national centers, under the Directorate of Education. The Learning Environment Center is responsible for national education boards in the work of implementing the national education policy within its area of responsibility. The Center is working on professional development, research, outward work and relevant teaching in accordance with the mandate. The center has a board as the governing body. Mission to the Center consists of assignments given by the Directorate of Education and self-initiated research and development tasks, competence development in kindergartens and schools, as well as teaching and counseling at the university. The center has two departments; one in Stavanger and one in Porsgrunn. Today there are 50 places added at the center.

 

Professor of Educational Sociology / Social Psychology or equivalent

 

The University of Stavanger searches for Professor of Educational Sociology / Social Psychology or equivalent. The positions are organizationally linked to the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities, the National Center for Learning Environment and Access Research (Learning Environment Center). The positions are available as soon as possible. 

 

Work assignments and the academic environment The
subject area for the posting is research and development work aimed at the learning environment in the debt.

 

There is currently great general and political interest in Norway for school development in general and the development of good learning environment in particular. The Learning Center works systematically with both research and practice-oriented development work in this field. We are one of the foremost and most sought after environments in the field - one field we wish to be a professional premier supplier for in Norway. The Learning Center is a national center, which assists national education authorities to realize current education policy. The Learning Center's work must be timely and reflect the societies and changes in society that characterize today's and tomorrow's childhood and youth, and later in the wake of age.

 

From 1.1.2018 the center enters into a new exciting phase. The professional responsibility, currently in the center's board, is then transferred to the University of Stavanger (UiS). The Center's assignments will be defined by UiS in accordance with university and college college. The center's strategic development will then be placed under UiS's overall strategy. Research and teaching will be central area. Practice-oriented competence and quality development in kindergarten and skular will continue in accordance with UiS's strategic development of cooperation with society, culture and business.

 

The work assignments will be linked to center-initiated research and development work, as well as teaching related to the current subject area of teacher education at UiS. In addition, there will be assignments from the Directorate of Education.

 

As a professor, you want to teach and direct students at the bachelor's master's and doctoral level in the field of pedagogical sociology, or social psychology, to drive research and disseminate research results within relevant research areas at the center, as well as contribute to the development of cooperation with the workplace. You will also hire an evolution and use of varied and digital learning methods in teaching, innovation and value creation based on research results. The job description provides a nearer explanation of the subject area and relevant assignments for the professor.

 

Expertise


Requirements We apply for a professor with a degree in science at high level in accordance with established standards for professional competence within the subject area. Applicants with specialization in the field of pedagogical sociology or social psychology have a priority, but applicants with specialization within the surrounding area may also be current candidates. Newer publication and potential for future research at high academic level within the subject area are emphasized.

 

You must be able to document pedagogical and didactic competence attached to higher education, or to complete university education course within a period of two years from accession. The course is hosted by the university.

The teaching and learning language is Norwegian and English. If you do not know Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, you must acquire Norwegian knowledge equivalent to level B2 within a period of two years from accession. If required, you will be offered a Norwegian course paid by the university.

 

If there are no applicants with sufficient scientific qualifications, it may be necessary to add temporary for up to three years with a view to qualification and permanent appointment. Applicants must be in charge of obtaining the necessary qualifications during the appointment period.

Subject


area The subject area for the posting is school education and school development at all levels of the debt. The Learning Center has a high level of competence in pedagogy and pedagogical psychology. No, we wish to reinforce and expand the competence base before social dynamics and system perspectives in the work environment. The Learning Center's strategy for 2017-2020 is based on work in four thematic areas: (i) learning environment and mental health, (ii) diversity and inclusion, (iii) innovation work in the learning environment, and (iv) learning environment and kindergarten. The host must have experience in one of the first three areas. It is especially desirable with experience in areas (i) learning environment and mental health and (ii) diversity and inclusion.

 

The host will assist in the pursuit of professional development and research, which is practical and policy relevant for the school sector, as well as teaching and retrieving students based on new research. The primary area is the learning environment in the shoulder. The Learning Environment Center uses the following definition: Elevane's learning environment in the school consists of the gathering of cultural, relational and physical relationships on the shelves that are important for pupils' learning, health and well-being.

 

The Center has several exciting research and development projects in progress before the four strategic focus areas. All our projects are based on cooperation, both internally and externally, nationally and increasingly internationally. The host added will be part of an interdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners. In the work of the Learning Center, a variety of methods and approaches are used, and the host must be open to different methods in research and practice.

  • Contribute to the development of major master's and doctoral programs, but also a bachelor's degree program, with high professional international quality.
  • Further develop and enhance the academic reputation of education programs by providing high quality education and guidance, mainly at master's and doctoral level, but also at bachelor level.
  • Contribute and develop current postgraduate and further education programs.
  • Maintain responsibility for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral students.
  • To facilitate learning for the students in line with the learning objectives of the study programs.
  • Drive pedagogical development and learning resources.
  • Competence development relates to teaching and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of new teaching methods and the use of different digital learning resources.
  • Implement student evaluations and pursue continuous development of their education.

 

Research and innovation

  • Contribute to the development of the academic environment, among other increasing research production.
  • Research, conduct professional development work within the field of study.
  • Initiate, obtain external funding for, rent and carry out major research and development projects.

Competence development
UiS expects all scientific efforts to drive continuous competence enhancement of their own teaching and research activities.

 

In the first year, Professor will attend the University's college-based guidance program, NyTi.

 

A professor who can not demonstrate adequate pedagogical and didactic competence attached to higher education may attend university education courses within two years of accession.

 

A professor who does not have a Norwegian or another Scandinavian language must acquire Norwegian knowledge equivalent to level B2 (in accordance with the common European Language Framework) before a period of two years from accession.

 

Professor can apply for a research term with salary in accordance with the university's "Guidelines for the allocation of research term".
