PROFESSOR WITH SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN URBAN SOCIOLOGY, SPATIAL RELATIONS AND COMMUNITY, 2017-224-01647

 

At The Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Sociology and Social Work, a position as Professor with Special Responsibilities in urban sociology, spatial relations and community is open for appointment from 1 May 2018 or soon thereafter. Workplace: Aalborg.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The position is temporary, and is limited to five years.

 

The department is seeking to strengthen its position and activities within urban sociology, spatial relations and community issues and is searching for a professor who can take a leading role in these efforts. Therefore applicants must demonstrate strong theoretical competences within these disciplines as well as strong records within empirical research and curriculum development.

 

The specific responsibilities include:

 

• Research management, initiation of research projects and grant application.
• Initiate, maintain and oversee teaching activities and educational programs within the position's disciplinary fields.
• Maintain and develop the department's interdisciplinary activities in research and education within relevant domains.
• Maintain and develop the department's international networks and international research collaborations.
• PhD-supervision and doctoral training activities.



Qualification requirements

 

It is presupposed that applicants can document a high degree of original scientific production at an international level, and can document having contributed considerably to the development of the subject area of the job description. Furthermore, applicants must account for their potential to further develop the subject area. Emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to perform research management and other management functions, provide pedagogical guidance as well as supervision and take part in academic assessments. Special emphasis will be placed on the potential of the applicant to undertake the specific projects related to this position, cf. job description.

Assessment

 

An expert assessment committee will assess all candidates.

 

Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not. The selected applicants will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will have the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that applies to the applicant in question. When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.

AGREEMENT

 

Appointment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State.
