Work­ing field:


The CRC 1265 „Re-Fig­ur­a­tion of Spaces (Re-Fig­ur­a­tion von Räu­men)“ is foun­ded by the “Deutsche Forschungs­ge­meinsch­aft” for four years. The research pro­ject „Bio­graph­ies of the Middle Class: Spa­tial Ref­er­ences in life­course” addresses the recon­struc­tion of bio­graph­ical his­tor­icity and rel­ev­ant con­sti­tu­tions of space of mem­bers of the middle class in Kenia and Ger­many. Types of spa­ti­otem­poral ori­ent­a­tion-pat­terns should be developed on the basis of nar­rat­ive-bio­graph­ical inter­views.


Your tasks will be: Par­ti­cip­a­tion in all stages of the research pro­ject from con­cep­tu­al­iz­a­tion of the design and doing the field work to the inter­pret­a­tion of data and pub­lic­a­tion of the res­ults; col­lab­or­a­tion and par­ti­cip­a­tion in internal and cross-pro­ject work­ing groups; present­a­tions on con­fer­ences; con­cep­tual work on the fol­low­ing top­ics: bio­graph­ical research, soci­ology of space, social struc­tural ana­lysis of Kenia; writ­ing a dis­ser­ta­tion on the find­ings of the pro­ject.


Require­ments:

 

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in the field of social sci­ences;
  • above aver­age res­ults are desired; know­ledge at the top­ics men­tioned above; excel­lent Eng­lish lan­guage skills; excel­lent Ger­man lan­guage skills (cer­ti­fic­ates required); exper­i­ence in the applic­a­tion of qual­it­at­ive meth­ods; abil­ity of team-minded and also inde­pend­ent and ded­ic­ated work; abil­ity of organ­iz­a­tion and coordin­a­tion.
