The Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich (http://www.ipz.uzh.ch/) invites applications for a PhD position in the research group of Professor Tarik Abou-Chadi, who holds an Assistant Professorship in Direct Democracy and Political Participation since November 2017.

 

Responsibilities


- Participation in the Department’s doctoral program, which offers advanced
methodological and substantive training as well as professional development
- Development and conduct of their own PhD project
- Contribution to the project “Direct Democracy and Populism” at the Zentrum für
Demokratie in Aarau

 

Requirements / Qualifications


- An MA degree in political science or a related discipline (at the time of taking up the
position)
- Strong interest in comparative politics and political behavior
- Good knowledge of quantitative methods
- Motivation to pursue an academic career
- Ability to work both independently and in a team

 

Language skills


Good working knowledge of English, command of German is welcome

 

Stellenantritt / This position opens on


The starting date for the position is May 1, 2018. Conditional on approval of the PhD proposal by the end of the first year, funding is guaranteed for four years total, with a gross annual salary of CHF 47,000 to 50,000.
