CESAR (Center for Social Work) is a newly established environment at the Department of Sociology, responsible for the Socio-program, research education and research in social work. This call is aimed at the employment of at least two university lecturers and is part of a larger focus on social work from Uppsala University and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

 

Tasks: The employment includes teaching, examination, research and administration within the Socio-program and social work. Teaching includes course responsibility, course administration and supervision. The work tasks also include actively applying for external research funds and following developments in the field of their own subject area and the development of society in general that are important for the teacher's work at the university. The holder of the Lecturer is expected to actively contribute to the Center's development in terms of education and research.

 

Eligibility Requirements: Qualifying to be employed as a university lecturer is the one who has obtained a doctorate in social work or has equivalent scientific competence, demonstrated educational skills and has the personal qualities required to fulfill the job well.

 

For qualifications, documented ability to teach in Swedish is required.

 

Assessment criteria : In the case of selected candidates, weight will be attached to scientific and educational skills to the same extent.

 

In assessing scientific skill, scientific quality shall be taken into account first and foremost. The scope of research, especially in terms of depth and breadth, should be taken into account. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead and develop research and education at the research level, the ability to obtain funding for research, as well as demonstrated ability to interact both internally and with the surrounding society is important.

 

Equal care will be given to the examination of the educational skill as the scientific skill. The pedagogical skills must be well documented so that the quality can be judged. In assessing pedagogical skills, pedagogical quality should be taken into account, including extent, both width and depth, to be considered important.

 

Experience of educational leadership demonstrated by the ability to plan, initiate, lead and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to research the education is important for the employment and will be given particular importance. The ability to interact with higher education pedagogical issues with actors inside and outside the university is also part of the pedagogical skills. In the assessment, experience and ability to teach in socio-program and social work as well as social work practice must be taken into account.

 

Assessment criteria; Other skill: Administrative skill and leadership skills are important for the employment and will be given weight.

 

Administrative skills are shown, among other things, by the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively and for the purpose, as well as ability to specify and maintain timeframes. Competency includes overall business planning and ability to manage resources in a way that reflects the business priorities as well as ability to work structured and based on awareness of goals and quality.

 

Management skills are demonstrated by the ability to lead business and staff, make decisions, take responsibility and motivate and provide others with the conditions required to effectively reach common goals. Ability to coordinate the group as well as contribute to creating commitment, participation and job satisfaction as well as ability to handle conflicts are additional examples of skill shown.

 

Personal circumstances (eg parental leave) that may be considered by the applicant in favor of the merit should be stated in connection with the statement of qualifications and experience.

 

When the university is to hire new teachers, applicants should be selected as following a qualitative overall assessment of skills and skill are deemed to be the best conditions for implementing and developing current tasks and contributing to a positive development of the business.

 

The recruitment team may use interviews, test lectures and referral procedures during this recruitment. The applicant should therefore provide a list of reference persons who may highlight professional skills, as well as personal qualities that are relevant to the employment, such as ability to work, leadership skills and the working methods used.
