The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was founded in 1971 with the purpose of conducting research and offering education in the field of peace and conflict studies. The institution is today a young, dynamic and international workplace with about 70 employees and approximately 300-400 students from all over the world. To the projects "The Institutional Roots of Electoral Violence" (project leader Kristine Höglund) and "ViEWS - a political Violence Early Warning System" (project leader Håvard Hegre) we are looking for a research assistant.

 

Tasks: Research and administrative tasks in both of the above projects: data collection and coding; compilation, visualization, and analysis of collected information; editing and formatting book and article manuscript; draft drafts on scientific texts; updates of project websites.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Research, or related disciplines.
  • Good knowledge of political violence, democracy and political institutions, as well as theories of peace and conflict research, including conflict prevention.
  • Experience of data collection and encoding of data, as well as the use of Stata, R, and latex.
  • Ability to independently analyze data, and to draft scientific texts on a scientific basis.
  • Good knowledge in English.
  • Good collaborative ability, as well as ability to work independently.

 

Desirable / Qualifying: Previous experience of working as a research assistant.
Weight will be put on personal suitability.

Salary: Individual payroll is applied.

 

Access: March 1, 2018, or by agreement.

 

Employment: Time-limited employment until 2018-12-31, withrenewal.
