The School of Security Studies seeks to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Security Studies to contribute to the teaching of this field, to design and develop modules, to contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of degree programmes in the School, and to build our research profile in this area. The successful candidate will be based on the Strand campus in London but teach in both the Department of War Studies in London and the Defence Studies Department located at the UK Defence Academy, Shrivenham. The post will have administrative responsibilities for Diversity & Inclusion across the School of Security Studies and its two sites.

 

Applications are sought from candidates who have a suitably strong research and teaching profile in any area of Security Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research addresses questions of gender and international security, gender and the political economy of security, gender and the military, postcolonial approaches in security studies, local/global inequalities and insecurity. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both in their area of specialism and in field of Security Studies broadly understood. They will also be expected to have an internationally recognised profile and to have shown research leadership through high-quality research publications and grant success commensurate to their career stage. The School of Security Studies recognises the values of diversity and inclusion and is currently awaiting the results of our Athena SWAN Bronze submission. The post would lead on the diversity & inclusion efforts across the School ensuring the implementation of the Athena SWAN action plan.

This is Full-time position.
