Brief Description


The Social Work Department is committed to quality professional training of social work practitioners and researchers. We are advertising a Chair of Social Work position in the Department.

Qualifications and Requirements:


• A PhD in Social Work
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)
• An independent international research profile with publications in accredited journals and international acknowledgement for his/her contribution to the social work profession
• An evidenced track record of acquiring funding for research
• Provision of intellectual leadership, vision and managerial expertise to the dynamic department focused on quality training of social work practitioners and researchers
• An interest and experience in the use and advanced teaching of research methodology and analysis at postgraduate levels
• Experience in postgraduate research supervision
• Advanced knowledge and experience in the context of social development

 

Responsibilities:


• Lecturing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Demonstrate being a research active staff member of the University
• Participation in advanced administration at different levels in the University
• Guidance and mentoring of staff members in the department and School
• Securing funding for research projects in the department and School

 

Remuneration: In accordance with qualifications, experience and level of appointment in relation to the university pay scale.

 

Commencement date: The successful candidate will be required to commence as soon as possible but no later than 1 July 2018.
