DEPARTMENT OF POLITICS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

 

Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,883 with a discretionary range to £42,418 p.a.

 

The Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a full-time fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Comparative Politics from 1 September 2018 (or as soon as thereafter) until 31 December 2022 to provide cover for Professor Elias Dinas, who is on secondment to the European University Institute.

 

The appointee will provide teaching and supervision for the Department of Politics and International Relations at the undergraduate and graduate level, while contributing to the departmental examining and admissions processes and undertaking independent research in Comparative Politics.

 

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil by September 2018 (or be close to completion) and will be expected to have expertise in quantitative research methods and be able to teach advanced quantitative methods at postgraduate level. The ability to provide excellent class and tutorial teaching, and to advise postgraduate students in their research projects, is essential.

 

Previous experience in teaching across a wide range of comparative government and quantitative methods courses is desirable.

 

You will be committed to the full range of academic duties, including engaging in assessment, alongside the progression of your own professional development. You will have a strong record of independent research and publication in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals or major presses. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational skills are required for this role, along with a demonstrated willingness to contribute to the pastoral care of students.
