At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Culture and Global Studies, a position as associate professor in cultural heritage dissemination is available for occupation from 1 September 2019 or as soon as thereafter.



The position includes research and teaching of cultural heritage dissemination. The applicant must have a strong research profile and must be able to document competence at the lecturer level in the field of cultural heritage research. It is an advantage if the applicant in his research has contributed to knowledge development within the field of cultural heritage both in the theoretical / conceptual field and with studies of practical cultural heritage dissemination. The associate professorship is carried out in connection with the Center for Research in Cultural Heritage Communication, which forms the framework for a collaboration between the Limfjord Museum Cooperative (LIMSAM) and Aalborg University, and which will contribute to exploration of issues that are generally related to the communication of local and regional history museums' collections in a contemporary regional, national or global context based on the cultural heritage, as the collections of the said museums. The position will primarily be linked to the research group Contemporary History (CHI), but through the Center for Research in Cultural Heritage dissemination will also have close contact with other research environments at Aalborg University. The place of employment is Aalborg University in Aalborg.



In addition to own research and teaching, applicants are expected to be a central player in the collaboration between the researchers at the museums that are affiliated with LIMSAM, and the university research relevant to the museums. The purpose of this collaboration is to strengthen the cultural heritage research at the museums that are linked to LIMSAM. The applicant must participate in the development of research projects at museums associated with the LIMSAM collaboration and must have the skills of sparring partner and network builder; It will be advantageous to be able to document experience with project development, research funding applications and guidance from other researchers (including PhD guidance).


The teaching will primarily be related to the Master's degree program in History at Aalborg University, which includes a specialization in cultural heritage dissemination, and therefore a profile is desired which will be able to provide teaching in the development and application of the concept of culture and cultural heritage, Danish and international heritage policy, museum practice and dissemination of cultural heritage (both theory and practice). Tourism education and other education at Aalborg University can occur.


An associate professor / senior researcher is sought, who ideally has experience with teaching at university level, while also having experience from the museum world, and who has also documented experience with research collaboration between a university and institutions in the surrounding society.


Qualification requirements


It is assumed that applicants to the associate professor have research qualifications corresponding to the level that can be obtained on the basis of a satisfactorily completed employment period as assistant professor / researcher, but will also be obtainable in some other way. Applicants are assumed to have documented scientific production at international level. Furthermore, it is assumed that applicants have received supervision and pedagogical upgrading and have received a positive written assessment of their educational qualifications. In addition, it will be an advantage, but not a prerequisite, that applicants have experience with problem-based learning (PBL), which is Aalborg University's educational model. Assessment The


assessment of the candidates for the position is done by an expert evaluation committee.

All applicants will be informed whether they have proceeded to assessment or not. The selected candidates will be informed of the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will be given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns the person concerned.
