The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.


Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).

 

Successful candidates will have acquired their PhD and additional academic achievements (cf. Article 100, Sec. 2 and 6 BerlHG) in communication studies or a related social science. We are looking for someone with excellent verifiable accomplishments in the analysis and prognosis of both national and international developments of media markets and media structures. The analyses should include aspects of communication policy and media economy; as well as media ethics, if applicable. The ability to teach seminars in German and English is mandatory. Additionally, the candidate will be experienced in university teaching in an international environment and have an excellent track record of research activities. She or he is expected to have experience in acquiring funding for, and carrying out, sponsored research.

 

Apart from the official duties that the appointee has to fulfil in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act in particular, the following activities need to be fulfilled in addition:

 

We expect the new professor to participate in the international research activities of the institute and the department for political and social sciences and to also consider gender and diversity issues in research and teaching. The appointee will engage in teaching courses of the study programs offered by the institute for media and communication studies, in both German and English.

Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavors, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperations, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
