This Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) now celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary continues to expand both its research and teaching portfolio. This professorial appointment is designed to contribute significantly to the Institutes continued success, and take a lead strategic and administrative role in the HCRI. The post will reinforce existing strengths in the field of Conflict, Peace and Humanitarian Affairs, and is intended to make a significant contribution to research and research-informed teaching capacity in this area.

 

This professorial appointment is a permanent teaching and research position, open to senior academics working in the connected fields of Peace and Conflict Studies, Development and Humanitarian Studies, Anthropology, Sociology,  International Relations and Politics (as befits the inter-disciplinary character of HCRI). They should be pursuing a theoretically innovative and critical research and methodological agenda. They should have a specific interest in the role of the UN, humanitarian organisations or relevant actors and issues. The position is open to outstanding candidates from any of the social sciences relevant to the broad questions of how best to engage scholars, practitioners, non-governmental organisations (NGO) partners, and policy makers in a sustained intellectual engagement to facilitate improvements in international crisis response, international and local forms of peacebuilding, peacemaking and statebuilding.
