Researcher (M/F) Environmental in Education KU Leuven Centre for Political Research Belgium


The department of Political Sciences of the KU Leuven is seeking to appoint one research fellow (m/f). This post will be part of the research project examining the influence of lessons at school on sustainable development. More in detail, you will be investigating whether these lessons influence the environmental attitudes of the youngsters as well as their behaviour regarding sustainable development. The recent protests against climate change can be taken into account as well. The research will take place in the participating schools and you will work in close cooperation with the other researchers on this project, which is coordinated by the University of Antwerp. The results will be reported to the Flemish educational sector as well as in international literature on the subject.



  • You will conduct research on environmental attitudes of youth

  • You will be responsible for the fieldwork and the analyses

  • You will start and complete a PhD dissertation on your research
  • Examination surveillance and attendance at study fairs for the Faculty of Social Sciences belong to the task


  • You hold a master’sdegree in social sciences or pedagogical sciences and graduated withdistinction.

  • You have a keen interest in sustainable development and environmental behaviour

  • You are interested in quantitative research methods and are willing to develop your quantitative skills and knowledoge

  • You have good writing skills

  • You are proficient in Dutch and English. Given the fact that the fieldwork will be conducted in Dutch language schools, a good knowledge of Dutch is essential for this job

  • You perform well in a team


  • Employment for a period of one year, with a possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance

  • A net monthly grant of ca. 1.800 € (depending on family situation and experience)
