The Department of Economics at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. The position is open to all fields, with macroeconomics being a priority area.


Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in economics or a related field by the time of employment.


A complete application will include a CV, letter of intent, research sample(s), and the names of three references. For applicants who did not hold a Ph.D. as of January 1, 2018, we will immediately request letters from your references (as soon as your application is complete). For applicants whose Ph.D. was granted before January 1, 2018, we will only request letters from finalists. The initial review date is November 6, 2018. For consideration at the initial review date, all application materials must be completed on November 5, 2018. An additional review will commence on November 29, 2018. All applications that are complete on or before November 28, 2018 will receive full consideration. The search will continue until the position is filled. We will be interviewing at the AEA meetings in Atlanta in January 2019, as well as via Skype and alternate locations.
