As the Associate Director of the Global Studies Program, the successful candidate will work closely with the Faculty Director to lead the program’s strategic development and implementation of curricular goals. With the Faculty Director, the Associate Director will define, evaluate, and support the achievement of learning objectives across Global Studies’ curricular programs and initiatives, ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest methodological and substantive developments in the relevant fields; develop study abroad initiatives at the UChicago Centers in Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, and Paris; and program events for the undergraduate majors. The successful candidate will supervise, evaluate, and provide pedagogical training for the program’s teaching personnel, including graduate students, teaching fellows, and professional Lecturers; coordinate the teaching of visiting faculty; implement University guidelines on appointment and promotion; develop and participate in scholarly programming and workshops; supervise student research; build opportunities for student internships and professional placement; and work with the Faculty Director to ensure the success of these programs and other initiatives that support undergraduate student education.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a social science or humanities discipline at the time of application; a record of independent teaching at the college level, in both interdisciplinary courses and courses offering foundational methods in the applicant’s field; and a record of research and publication in global studies.
