DescriptionVanderbilt Law School seeks law school graduates with superb academic and employment records to teach our Legal Writing course(s) starting in August 2022. Position slots are available in the LL.M. legal research and writing program, contingent on enrollment-based teaching needs. A successful applicant will be appointed as an Instructor in Law. This initial semester (mid-August through December) appointment may be renewed on a yearly basis depending on curricular needs. Typical weekly duties for all instructors include:
A substantial portion of the instructor’s time during the semester is spent on reading and critiquing students’ writing. The instructor must also hold individual conferences with students during particular weeks of the semester to discuss students’ work. In addition, instructors may be required to assist with assignment preparation; this may include independent research, case review and analysis, and editing. During the semester, an instructor position is approximately half-time and is not compatible with competing full-time employment. Nor is it compatible with part-time work that would prevent instructors from complying with the course’s demanding schedule.
