DescriptionThe Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University seeks an adjunct instructor (part-time faculty) in Queer Studies for Academic Year 2021-2022. The successful applicant will teach one course per term on gender and sexuality emphasizing the lives and experiences of queer, trans, and non-binary people. The position is open to a range of disciplinary approaches, time periods, and geographies. We particularly welcome proposals for courses that examine the intersection of sex, gender, and race and focus on queer-of-color critique. We seek applications from scholars in humanities and humanistic social sciences in disciplines such as Queer studies, history, sociology, gender and sexuality studies, women’s studies, ethnic studies, American studies, and performance studies who reach across disciplinary boundaries in research and teaching. QualificationsAdvanced doctoral candidate or Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or university level; and a strong record of research and writing.
