Faculty / Directorate

The Division of Community and Criminal Justice is one of four divisions within the School of Applied Social Sciences. The Division delivers programmes in Criminology, Policing, Criminal Investigation and Community Justice (Probation Officer training). It has a longstanding research profile and staff are involved in a wide range of research work and activity including on risk and European probation laws. This is an exciting opportunity for a probation professional to work in a supported and collegiate environment with opportunities for further study and research.


Role

As a Lecturer in Criminology in the Division of Community and Criminal Justice, you role will include both teaching and research duties on our undergraduate criminology programmes. Typically, your teaching duties will include preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars, supervision of final year projects, contributing to the personal tutoring scheme, and the devising and marking of assessments. You will be expected to be research active in Criminology and contribute to work of the Research Institute in Criminology, Community, Education and Social Justice.


Ideal Candidate

You will hold a PhD in Criminology or a relevant discipline. We would particularly welcome applications from those with specialisms in Victimology and/or Criminological Theory. You will be familiar with delivering teaching and learning within a higher education setting. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the University community. You will share DMU’s passion to provide an outstanding and inclusive experience for all of its students.
