About This Opportunity

Engage as a Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and scholarship in Macroeconomics, supervision and further development of the School’s programs. Achieving teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and student outcomes, you will take responsibility for the preparation and delivery of courses, collaboration in curriculum design and delivery, and engage in face-to-face, online and/or blended modes of preparation and delivery.

You will assist with tutor coordination and provide tutorial assistance as necessary in addition to engaging in service and engagement duties within the school, as required. Whilst maintaining research-led and practice-led knowledge, undertake scholarship related to teaching, developing skills and a profile in all aspects of teaching practice, continuous improvement of curriculum and teaching resources, and seek external validation for one’s own scholarship of teaching (e.g. via HEA).

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

For US applicants, please note that Australian Universities use British terminology, as such a Lecturer position is equivalent to that of a non-tenured Assistant Professor position in the US

Our Ideal Candidate

With demonstrated expert knowledge and an ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Macroeconomics, you should hold a PhD (or submitted PhD thesis prior to commencement) in Economics or a directly related discipline. A proven record of high-quality teaching in a variety of settings and your ability to relate well to students in an interactive learning environment is integral to the role.

You should demonstrate an ability to balance demands in teaching, scholarship and other service activities while maintaining high levels of work productivity and establishing effective relationships as a representative of the School and University. A developing profile  in the scholarship of teaching as evidenced by participation in the communication and dissemination of teaching practice within the discipline and engagement in subject, professional and pedagogy research will be highly desirable.

What We Can Offer

There are two (2) full-time, fixed term positions available for up to 2 years at Academic level B.

For Level B: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $99,542.79 - $118,206.74 per annum plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $116,465.07 - $138,301.88 per annum.
