The Department of Social Anthropology is one of the oldest established departments of anthropology in the UK. The department scored highly in the REF 2014, being ranked first in the country in terms of GPA for Social Anthropology, and has strong international recognition, including the groundbreaking work on conflict, inequality and social change pioneered by the Manchester School.

Applications are invited for a fixed term teaching focused Lectureship in Social Anthropology available from 1st August 2019 to 31 January 2020.  Applicants should combine a strong capacity for research with the skills to deliver outstanding quality teaching in a collegial, research focused environment.  You will be an excellent researcher who will deliver research led teaching across a range of courses, including core teaching in Anthropology, and contribute to the delivery of our programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will be expected to develop your own courses which support the curriculum for delivery in a variety of formats (seminar based teaching or lectures depending on course requirements). You will be expected to effectively supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate students.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit .
