Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Sociology to further strengthen the thriving research and teaching culture of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology. Given the interdisciplinary nature of our Department, we are particularly interested in recruiting candidates with broad interests that make connections between Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology. To this end, a background in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage: digital sociology; social or public policy; quantitative research methods; and crime and deviance; but we welcome applications from across the field of Sociology. You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and teaching experience in Sociology or an allied discipline.

Be part of the University of Southampton, a member of the Russell Group and an institution in the top 1% of world Universities and one of the UK’s top 15 research–intensive universities.

You will work with a highly committed body of staff in a Department that has a strong empirical focus and was ranked 4th in the UK for the quality of its research outputs in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). You will have produced nationally recognised academic research; be developing a national and international research profile; and have the potential to secure research grants for your research. You will have a strong teaching record and share our commitment to enhancing students’ experience of our programmes.
