Job Summary 
The History program in the School of Humanities invites qualified applicants for a visiting full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor (depending on qualifications) in History and Social Studies Education. The full-time appointment begins Fall 2019.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load. Candidates will be expected to teach courses in Teaching Social Studies Licensure courses in both remote and face-to-face course delivery and instruction formats. In addition:

1.      Maintain relations with local supervising teachers and administrators

2.      Prepare assessment reports, including NCATE/CAPE reports

3.      Participate in university Professional Education Council and the Secondary Education Caucus

4.      Prepare and submit syllabi, grades, and other required course documentation in a timely manner

5.      Perform other duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications 

1.     MA or MS in History or M.Ed in Social Studies or Social Studies Education with at least 18 hours of graduate course work in History

2.     Two years secondary education social studies teaching experience

3.      Ability to travel to supervise student teachers

4.      Background check clearance

Preferred Qualifications  

1.     Ph.D. in History or EdD in Social Studies or Social Studies Education with a least 18 graduate credit hours in History

2.     Three years or more of secondary education social studies teaching experience

3.     An active teaching license in secondary education (social studies)

4.     Experience with online course delivery and instruction
