The University of New South Wales (UNSW) invites Postdoctoral Research Fellows to apply for 3 positions in the Vitalities Lab, Centre for Social Research in Health and Social Policy Research Centre

 

The three Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions will play important roles in the development of the research program of the new Vitalities Lab established by SHARP Professor Deborah Lupton in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. 

  • Level A - A$93,578 - A$100,090 + 9.5% superannuation + leave loading - 19 Month Fixed Term
  • Level A - A$93,578 - A$100,090 + 17% superannuation + leave loading -  3 year Fixed Term
  • Level B - A$105,108 - A$123,908 + 17% superannuation + leave loading- 3 year Fixed Term
  • Full-time position (35 hours per week)

 

The 19-month Research Fellow position involves working with Professor Lupton and collaborator Professor Mike Michael on their ARC-funded project on Australians’ understandings and practices related to their personal data

 

The positions require expertise in qualitative inquiry and applying social theory in analysing research materials. The primary focus of the two three-year Research Fellow positions is to work with Professor Lupton to develop and undertake research projects, including: research design; concept development; literature reviews; managing research ethics; liaison with research, policy and community project partners; generation of research materials (e.g. undertaking interviews, running focus groups, engaging participants in arts- or design-based activities); management and analysis of research materials; assist with the writing external grant funding applications and consultancies; assistance with event organisation; and writing scholarly outputs for conference presentations and publications. This work will also involve assisting with the development of proposals for external grant funding. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Level A

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

• Plan and complete day-to-day research activities within the framework of agreed project timelines and                       responsibilities as directed by Professor Lupton

• Ensure that all UNSW, Faculty and Centre policies, procedures and codes of practice are adhered to at all times

• Undertake qualitative research, including the generation and analysis of research materials

• Undertake and synthesise literature reviews, including literature pertaining to social research methods and social         theory

• Contribute to the writing of peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, research consultancies and grant     applications

• Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

Level B, in addition to the above:

• Assist in the management of research ethics and governance

• Liaise with research, policy and community project partners, within and beyond UNSW

• Assist in the day-to-day management of research projects
