Applications are invited for a full-time Principal Research Associate who will play a key role as Executive Director of the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy (MCTD). This is an opportunity for a talented individual to make a major contribution to the development of a new field of research, about a topic that seems likely to be one of the most important of our time.

The purpose of the role is to lead the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy with the aim of advancing, supporting and maintaining the University's national and international reputation for excellence in research. The role holder will be an experienced and skilled researcher demonstrating a track record of high quality independent and collaborative research and success in obtaining research funding. The role holder will have full leadership and operational responsibility for The Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy together with the CRASSH Director and may hold research grants in his/her own right. The Executive Director will have day-to-day responsibility for the Centre's operations, management, recruitment, and delivery of research programmes.

The Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy (MCTD) is the first node in a planned international network of academic centres established to rebalance power and restore agency in a world dominated by digital platforms. One of the roles of the Executive Director is to maintain and foster relationships with other nodes of the network. MCTD is hosted within Cambridge's Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) and is supported by the Frontier Tech Initiative.

The funds for this post are available until 28 February 2025 in the first instance.
