The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of sociology. This
professorship position is at the interface of research on the digitalization of society and methodological research into the use of digital data in the social sciences. The future post holder will
work within the framework ofthe interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence DFG EXC 2037 “Climate,
Climatic Change, and Society (CliCCS)” (2019-2025), in particular, the use of digital research
methods to explore the linkages between societal dynamics and anthropogenic greenhouse gas
emissions. Research contributions may come from sociological research in areas such as the
economy, consumption and mobility, environmental and urban questions.

Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches
Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.

Additional criteria:
Applicants are expected to have an international research profile and a record of English language publications, particularly in peer reviewed journals. Proven expertise in the field of digital
research methods is also expected.

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track
record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects.
