Early Career Researcher Fellowships (DECRA)
School of Education, University of Adelaide

The Australian Research Council (ARC) annually awards three-year Discovery Early Career
Researcher Awards (DECRAs) to create opportunities for early career researchers to develop their
research careers.

The University of Adelaide, a member of the Go8, seeks to support an outstanding ECR applicant
for a DECRA in the Field of Research under the ANZSRC FOR classification of 13 (Education), to
be located in the School of Education. The School is committing resources to developing its
research strengths in this area and the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice President- Research can
help successful DECRA applicants commencing funding in 2020 through a $40,000 establishment,
conference travel and professional development support.

The School of Education (http://education.adelaide.edu.au/) is focused on research through two
dominant research concentrations: Enhancing Educational Outcomes and Learning Environments.
The main topics of research include: wellbeing of learners, educators and leaders; STEM and STEM
Leadership; digital futures, leadership and innovation; international perspectives; Indigenous issues
and perspectives; and, assessment, measurement and evaluation.

Our research aim is to build on existing understandings of learning to provide contemporary evidence-based approaches to new methodologies and pedagogies which enhance education outcomes. We are a research active
environment and regularly have many Masters or higher level PhD candidates engaging in some of
the most challenging educational issues of our time. This includes the role of technology in
the classroom, the role of standardised testing, and how leaders establish school cultures to enable
positive learning and wellbeing environments. Our existing relationships and networks in Australia
and internationally expand options for partnership and access to global knowledge.

The desired successful early career researcher would have expertise that aligns with these areas,
and will work alongside other members of the School who lead a number of externally funded
research projects in the above areas. If you are interested in exploring the possibility of applying for
one of these awards, in the first instance please e-mail your CV to the Research Support Officer,
Rita Horanyi at rita.horanyi@adelaide.edu.au by 26th of October 2018. We reserve the right in our
absolute discretion not to support any expressions of interest, having considered any and all CVs.
