At least one senior lecturer in Political Science

Lund University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world's top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and 7 400
staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg.

The Department of Political Science fuses traditional roots with cutting-edge research and education. In recent years, it has very successfully
competed for external research funds. Among the central research areas of the Department are democratization, diplomacy, peace and conflict
studies, environmental politics and welfare studies. The strong research profile of the Department is reflected in the teaching, the educational
environment also being firmly set in a global context.

Work duties

The work duties associated with the position mainly consist of research, teaching, course development, supervision and examination in the first and
second cycles of study in political science. The courses deal primarily with public administration, Swedish and comparative politics and/or political
theory. Teaching takes place in both Swedish and English. The position also includes administration linked to the work duties mentioned above. We
welcome applicants whose research specialisation would contribute to one of the department's research environments.

A person is qualified for employment as a senior lecturer if they hold a doctoral degree in political science or another relevant subject, have
demonstrated teaching expertise and undergone at least five weeks' training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired equivalent
knowledge in some other way (see further details on https://www.sam.lu.se/anstalldsidan/dokument-for-verksamheten/ansokan-lararanstallning-ellerbefordran).

Other requirements or additional qualifications

comparative politics and/or political theory. A documented teaching portfolio and proven teaching qualifications are a requirement. The successful
applicant is to be able to teach in both Swedish and English, in the long term. Non Swedish-speaking applicants are therefore expected to acquire a
knowledge of Swedish at the level required to fulfil ordinary work duties within education and administration within the first two years of employment.
There are opportunities for Swedish language training within Lund University.

Grounds for assessment

The grounds for assessment are the general degree of research, teaching, administrative and other expertise of significance to the subject content and
work duties of the advertised position, and the applicant's general abilities that are significant satisfactorily to carry out the work duties associated with
the position. Equal emphasis is placed on research and teaching expertise. The applicant's ability to independently plan, develop and implement
research and education of high quality within the subject area is considered very important. The department has a collegial approach to work and sees
the teaching staff group as a work team that is collectively responsible for the quality of education and for educational development. A good ability to
cooperate and a willingness to work together in a group is highly valued.
