Assistant Professor of Social Psychology

Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences Faculty Los Angeles, California

The Department of Psychology in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Social Psychology, with an anticipated start date of August 2022. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of study.

We are seeking an outstanding researcher whose work intersects social psychology (especially addressing belief systems, person perception, judgement and decision-making, motivational/affective processes, and cultural backgrounds), and problem-oriented issues such as healthy lifestyles, social disparities, intergroup relations, and sustainability. The successful applicant will use experimental methods in combination with other approaches, such as survey, experience-sampling, imaging, computational modeling, and/or large-scale data collection methods to understand the forces that influence these personal and social behaviors and will be required to develop an externally funded research program. Especially given our interest in cultural contexts, we seek to attract applicants from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

The appointment is expected to begin August 2022. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. and demonstrate an excellent doctoral and/or post-doctoral record that includes a strong track record of publications and potential to secure extramural funding. The department aims to foster a diverse intellectual community and strongly encourages applications from all underrepresented groups.

Please direct questions to socialsearch@usc.edu. Applicants should submit a cover letter; current CV; a list of at least three references; 3 sample publications; and separate statements describing their research and teaching, and a service statement that highlights contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We encourage candidates to apply by October 15th for full consideration. In order to be considered for this position, all candidates must apply via the "Apply" link at the top or bottom of this page.
