Position Overview TMU seeks a scholar in Indigenous and Aboriginal Law to: Teach in the JD program, including Indigenous-focused courses such as: JUR 109: Indigenous and Aboriginal Law JUR 220: Issues in Indigenous Economic Development JUR 223: Indigenous Legal Theory and Practice JUR 332: Indigenous Dispute Resolution JUR 334: Indigenous Peoples and Criminal Law Practice Develop and expand the law school’s curriculum in Indigenous law and legal orders, with preference for grounding in local Anishinaabe or Haudenosaunee legal orders. Conduct scholarly research or creative activity that engages with Indigenous law, community-based research, or Indigenous-specific creative projects, respecting Indigenous protocols for knowledge dissemination. Contribute to land-based learning programs and Indigenous student support. Engage in collegial service to the law school, university, and Indigenous communities. Qualifications Candidates must: Hold a J.D. or LL.B. degree and an LL.M. or Master’s in a closely related field. Preference for candidates with a doctoral degree in law or ABD close to completion. Expertise in Indigenous law, legal orders, or in issues related to colonial legal systems and their impacts on Indigenous communities. Demonstrated ability or potential in teaching, research, and student engagement. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching, research, and service.
