Based at UQ St Lucia as part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the School of Law is the oldest and most prestigious law school in Queensland.

Currently, the School employs 11 professional staff, 44 full-time academic staff and several adjunct professors. About This Opportunity

Practice your demonstrated capability in learning and teaching and deliver one or more of the undergraduate core private law courses, required for admission to legal practice (known as the ‘Priestley 11’). In addition, your role as associate lecturer / lecturer will include, but is not limited to:

  • Develop, prepare and deliver law course in LLB (Honours) program
  • Fulfil the duties of course coordinator, developing innovative course materials and assisting the teaching team with consulting students
  • Develop practice, evaluate and communicate improved pedagogies and learning materials for the School’s small group teaching format
  • Where appropriate teach courses in flexible delivery mode

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a legal qualification in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) and will have an exemplary teaching and engagement record at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Demonstrated capability and experience in developing innovative course and program material for effective learning practices is essential to the role.

  • Candidates applying at Level A: should demonstrate expert knowledge in area/s of law, a Master’s degree in Law or demonstrated progress in a PhD program (desirable).
  • Candidates applying at Level B: should demonstrate expert knowledge in area/s of law, a PhD that is under examination or in the final stages of completion (desirable); and demonstrated active and effective record of principal supervision of Higher Degree Research Students.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time fixed term position for up to 2 years at Academic level A or B.

Academic Level A Position: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,729.75 - $94,637.91, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $82,753.80 - $110,726.35.

Academic Level B Position: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $99,542.80 - 118,206.73 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $116,465.07 - $138,301.88.
