The Department of Economics at the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences of the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Microeconomics. The post is expected to commence on 1 October 2019 or 1 January 2020.


Applicants should have completed a PhD in Economics or a closely related field, possess a track record of high-quality publications and of excellence in teaching.


The successful applicant will be expected to undertake a leadership role in the area of Microeconomics, and to support the strategic objectives of the Department by: developing and maintaining a high quality research agenda that leads to publications in top journals; leading grant applications; teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; supervising Masters and PhD students; and contributing to the management and administration of the Department.

Our expertise ranges from game theory and decision theory to mechanism design, industrial organisation, public economics, financial economics, behavioural and experimental economics.
