Three [3] Limited Term Faculty (LTF) Positions in Psychology

Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the  territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts at invites applications for three [3] Limited Term Faculty (LTF) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointments shall be effective July 1, 2021 for a one year term, subject to final budgetary approval. 

Details on the individual positions are provided in the following table. Teaching is planned for students at the Ryerson campus unless otherwise specified.

The successful candidate will engage only in the teaching and service duties of faculty members in the Department while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across such activities. The candidate will contribute to our undergraduate (BA) program through teaching and mentoring of students. 

Candidates must hold, or be close to completing, an earned Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field by the appointment date. In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of: 

  • experience as an effective teacher of large undergraduate classes; 
  • experience supervising graduate assistants; 
  • currency in the subject areas they will be expected to teach in;  
  • ability to teach effectively in an online environment which includes demonstrated knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management of online courses, including using course management system tools to communicate with students and to foster and support a collaborative online learning community with and between students in the course; 
  • commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service and teaching including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and 
  • ability to contribute to the life of the Department and the University through collegial service. 

Our committee recognizes that scholars have varying career paths and that career interruptions can be part of an excellent academic record. Candidates are encouraged to provide any relevant information about their experience and/or career interruptions. 

Note: Limited Term Faculty appointments at Ryerson University may not exceed a combined total of four years. Applicants with prior Ryerson LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply. 

This position falls under the jurisdiction of the Ryerson Faculty Association (RFA) ().

Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology in the at Ryerson University is located in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Department of Psychology consists of 34 tenure-stream faculty members.  We have over 100 graduate (MA/ PhD) students and an undergraduate (BA) program that will grow to over 1200 students by 2024. We pride ourselves on the excellence of our research and on the quality of our teaching, training, and supervision. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to our existing research and teaching strengths by bringing innovative and diverse perspectives and experiences to the work.
