Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks to hire two part-time Lecturers to teach undergraduate Criminal Justice courses. Courses assigned may include a combination of face-to-face instruction and online sections. A successful candidate would be expected to teach courses supporting the criminal justice major, including Police and Society, Deviant and Criminal Behavior, and others to be determined by department/program needs. These will be for an initial one-year term with the possibility of renewal.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field

  • College/University teaching experience or other teaching/instruction experience related to field

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Criminology/Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field

  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education

 

Department/Program & College Description:

The Department’s current and future research, teaching, and extension scholarship is centered on creating new knowledge and preparing the next generation of scientists, teachers, professionals, and citizens to apply social science skills to societal challenges.

 

The Department has a pedagogical mission to prepare undergraduate and graduate students with skills to launch professional careers that address the major challenges of society and engage in civic life as well-educated global citizens.
