The successful candidate will start a Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Junior Professor Yewon Lee. Dr. Lee is looking for a candidate with a Master’s degree in a field that qualifies for research and teaching in Korean studies. (Those who are trained in sociology, anthropology, geography, and political science are encouraged to apply.) Proficiency in qualitative methods in social science research—e.g., ethnographic, in-depth interview, and historical analysis—and experience in empirical research on Korea is required. Specific research interest in either urban, labor, social movement, and/ or gender is preferred, but not necessary. The candidate must be fluent both in English and Korean at an academic level.
