Position Function The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of scholars across Cornell University, including faculty, researchers, visiting fellows, and graduate students engaged in interdisciplinary studies of agroecology, food systems, and climate change adaptation. Working closely with Professor Rachel Bezner Kerr, the postdoctoral associate will: Advance ongoing projects on agroecology and rural development in Malawi. Develop new research initiatives on transdisciplinary agroecology and climate change adaptation in Africa. Contribute to systematic reviews related to climate change and agroecology. Participate in mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students within the Bezner Kerr Lab. Support coordination of collaborative projects involving partners in Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, South Africa, the USA, Canada, France, and Germany. Depending on interest and feasibility, the postdoctoral associate may also engage in teaching and/or off-campus fieldwork. Anticipated Division of Time Own research and writing: 40% Collaborative research and writing with Prof. Bezner Kerr: 50% Teaching and mentoring: 10% Required Qualifications PhD in geography, sociology, development studies, or a related social science field. Demonstrated ability in proposal and grant writing. Knowledge of transdisciplinary agroecology theory and application. Experience with quantitative and qualitative social science methods. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge or experience in community development in Africa. Familiarity with participatory and feminist/gender methodologies. Experience conducting or contributing to systematic reviews. Supervision and Collaboration The postdoctoral associate will mentor students involved in research projects and within the Bezner Kerr Lab. Formal supervision responsibilities are not required. Appointment Details Appointment: 12-month term, renewable annually up to 2 years (subject to performance and funding).
