About the position

At the Department of Sociology and Political Science (ISS), a temporary position as postdoctoral fellow in Sociology is available for a period of 2 years. The position is linked to the research umbrella "Childhood, childhood, school and inequality in the Nordic countries" , and to the research groups "Welfare and inequality" at the ISS and "Education policy, diversity and inequality" at the Department of Teacher Education (ILU). The Department of Sociology and Political Science (ISS) conducts research, teaching and dissemination in sociology, political science, sports science and media science. The institute has about 80 employees, divided into 73 man-years and 11 study programs. ISS is a strong discipline institute with an emphasis on sociology and political science, which contributes to interdisciplinary study programs and in interdisciplinary research at NTNU. The position is associated with "Childhood, childhood, school and inequality in the Nordic countries" with special focus on children and young people's living conditions in Trondheim after the turn of the millennium.
Applicants are

asked to write a project outline with a progress plan stating their potential contribution in the light of "Childhood, childhood, school and inequality in the Nordic countries".

Applicants are assessed on (1) the quality and potential of the project outline, (2) the quality and relevance of the scientific output, and (3) possible contributions to the research groups and the institute.
Teaching and guidance in sociology or political science if the position is assigned to work.

Eligibility Requirements

The postdoctoral position is a qualification position where the main objective is qualification for work in scientific positions. A completed Norwegian doctorate in sociology, political science or other relevant field of study is required, or equivalent foreign doctorate approved as equivalent to a Norwegian doctorate.

Other demands:

The position requires solid method expertise in qualitative method (case studies) and / or statistical analysis skills of survey data / register data.
Good oral and written ability in Norwegian and English.

Salary and terms

The term of employment is 2 years, with the possibility of further extension for up to 2 years. The position as Postdoctoral Officer, code 1352, is paid gross at NOK 523 200 per employee. years depending on qualifications and seniority. 2% of the statutory contribution is deducted from statutory contributions to the Government Pension Fund.
