Postdoctoral Research Associate in Housing Studies (University of Sydney School of Education and Social Work in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences)

About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Housing Studies, who will make a significant contribution to research in housing and urbanism at the University of Sydney. We are particularly seeking candidates whose own research experience and capabilities will complement and extend the school’s existing and emerging strengths in housing and urban analysis. The successful candidate will work with our team of researchers in Urban and Regional Planning and Policy, where we research the design, characteristics and processes of urbanism (living in cities) and the policy and planning solutions proposed to create better cities. As a member of our research team, you will support relevant research efforts within the School; advance a research program related to your expertise; develop work for publication with highly regarded journals or publishers; and contribute to wider research dissemination and engagement activities with policy, practice, industry and advocacy groups as well as the wider community. You will also be expected to contribute to teaching in housing and/or urbanism units, up to the equivalent of one day per week of your role. We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Housing Studies who possesses: A PhD relevant to housing and/or urban studies or planning (awarded prior to commencement of the position) Skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and various analysis techniques Knowledge of the Australian housing policy context. The ability to conduct independent and collaborative research and assume responsibility for the development and completion of research projects. An emerging record of successful translation of research outcomes (relative to opportunity) into high impact, international, peer-reviewed research outputs. The ability to seek funding from, and collaborate with, external research partners. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively; to organise and prioritise work, sometimes under pressure, with competing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
