The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration, have jointly established the Centre for Water Technology and Policy to conduct cutting-edge research on water science, technology and policy issues relating to the broader urban sustainability agenda.  The Centre is dedicated to pursuing excellence in research and teaching on water policy-technology interface issues, and to reaching out to the larger community to stimulate discussion on its salient research findings.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Geography, Urban Planning, Political Science, Environmental Science or a related discipline, with at least one year of work experience.  They should possess good writing and speaking skills in English and Chinese (including Cantonese), as well as some hands-on experience in implementing community outreach activities.  They should have strong communication, good problem-solving and time-management skills, and be self-motivated and well-organized in handling project tasks.  Those with less experience may be appointed as Research Assistant II.

The appointee is expected to help execute a Jockey Club-funded outreach initiative on water sustainability.  He/She will provide support to project coordinators on day-to-day implementation of a school programme targeting secondary school students, as well as a capacity building scheme to engage the business sector.  He/She will provide logistical support to other related outreach and community events, and assist with such research tasks as project impact evaluation.  Irregular working hours will be required occasionally.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online applications for the above post.   Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date CV, transcripts and a writing sample.  Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until December 10, 2021, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
