The  position in  accordance  with  Section28  subsection1 of  the  Hamburg  higher  education  act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG)commences on 01/10/2019or negotiable.


This is a fixed term contract in accordance withSection2 of the academic fixed-term labor con-tract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The initial fixed term is three years. Theposition calls for 75% ofstandard work hours per week.




Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research as-sociate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the re-search associate’s own academic work.


Specific Duties:


The position involves the teaching of tutorials as well as the supervision of students in seminars (3 teaching hours per week). In addition, the candidate is expected to develop a record of public management researchand present his researchresults in conferencesto receive a doctorate.



A university degree in a relevant field.

  • strong  research  interest  and  pleasure  in  composing  scientific  papers  for  publication  in inter-national journals
  • well-founded   theoretical   knowledge   in   the   fields   of   behavioural   management, organisation  and  leadership  research,  particularly  with  reference  to  the  public  sector (public management)
  • strong applied knowledge of quantative methods of empirical social research
  • an   above-average   university   degree   in   business   studies,   management   sciences, (organisa-tional-)psychology or related subjects
  • excellent English language skills (both spoken and written)
  • strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, ability to independently plan and conduct research, ability to work under pressure and team spirit
