Position Summary

The Department of Psychology is recruiting for a research associate (post doc) to work on longitudinal research study evaluating the impact of Domestic Violence Housing First (community-based advocacy and flexible financial assistance) on domestic violence survivors’ housing stability, safety and well-being. This longitudinal study involves over 400 study participants, with data gathered across five time points over two years. Data collection is ongoing and expected to be complete in August of 2021 but data across one year have already been collected and are being analyzed. Under the direction of Dr. Cris Sullivan, the research associate will assist with conducting and overseeing quantitative data analysis, co-authoring papers for submission to academic journals, report writing, and assisting in dissemination. Additional responsibilities may include data management, grant writing, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The research associate will receive strong mentorship in further developing their own, independent program of research, grant development and manuscript development.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant applied social science or interdisciplinary field such as Community Psychology, Applied Social Psychology, Social Work, Human Development & Family Studies, or Public Health by the start date of the position.
  • The successful candidate must have experience in the design, methods, and evaluation of community-based research projects pertaining to either domestic violence or housing/homelessness (ideally both).
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills with longitudinal data are required, as are strong writing skills and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • The successful candidate must be excited about participating in an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences.
  • They must communicate respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications

Preference will be given to those with demonstrated success in publishing research in academic journals. Candidates fluent in both English and Spanish are preferred (but Spanish not required) as data are being collected in both languages.
