A post-doctoral Research Associate position funded by the Leverhulme Trust is available in the Institute of Criminology. Project title - The i-Gov Project: Illegal Governance of Markets and Communities This is a new full-time position (fixed term, 9 months) working under Dr Paolo Campana and Prof Federico Varese (University of Oxford) on a Leverhulme-funded research project on organised crime and illegal governance in the United Kingdom. The overall project aims to identify and explore instances of organised crime and illegal governance in local communities across the United Kingdom. The first phase of the project led to the creation of a new instrument, 'the i-Gov Questionnaire' and the collection of quantitative data on organised crime presence in communities across the United Kingdom. The current phase will be devoted to testing hypotheses and carrying out quantitative analysis on datasets already available as well as on additional datasets that the post-holder will help compile. Taking a key role in the advancing the second stage of the project, you will be expected to independently carry out quantitative analysis on crime datasets as well as actively engage with key actors to acquire additional datasets. Having obtained a PhD in Social Sciences with a strong quantitative component or equivalent level of practical expertise, you will have strong quantitative and analytical skills. Your previous experience with quantitative testing of hypotheses and a strong background in quantitative methods is vital.
