DevLab@Penn at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a research associate during the 2022-2023 academic year. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility for renewal.

DevLab@Penn seeks a Research Associate to work with our team of scholars and graduate students on a project to develop rigorous evidence around peace studies, conflict mediation and nonviolent action. The successful candidate will work with partners at the United States Institute for Peace to build research--experimental and otherwise--into their field projects. Responsibilities will include co-developing research with USIP field staff, developing data collection instruments, conducting data analysis and producing papers on the research. There may be opportunities for international travel.  Advanced training in research design and inferential statistics are required, and the ideal candidate will have some experience with rigorous field work and be able to communicate clearly with a non-academic audience. Prospective candidates are expected to have completed (or nearly completed) graduate work in one or more of these areas: International Development, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology, Antrhopology, Demography, or related fields. Successful candidates will collaborate with Professor Erik Wibbels as well as members of DevLab@Penn in an interdisciplinary environment.
