The Faculty of Law is looking for a full-time (100%) senior researcher in the field of legal creativity.


Position

  • You will actively participate in the research project ‘Legal Creativity’, funded by the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO). This interdisciplinary project integrates creativity theory into legal science and has three central objectives: 1) conceptualizing legal creativity, with the aim of understanding what legal creativity is; 2) measuring legal creativity by developing a valid and reliable measurement tool; and 3) developing training in legal creativity aimed at stimulating legal-creative skills.

  • You will be embedded in the Business and Law research group and the research on talent development. As a senior researcher, you will help coordinate project applications in the field of talent development and actively contribute to acquiring external research funding.

  • You will take on a limited teaching assignment and participate in service projects.


Profile

  • You hold a PhD in a discipline within the humanities or social sciences (or will have obtained it by the time you start work). This is a condition of admissibility.

  • You have an excellent knowledge of law.

  • You have experience with interdisciplinary research and empirical research methods.

  • You have a demonstrable interest in talent development and creativity.

  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.

  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.

  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

  • You can speak and write fluently in English and in Dutch.


What We Offer

  • We offer a full-time contract as a senior researcher for a period of three years.

  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale for a principal research fellow in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).

  • You will receive ecocheques, internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.

  • The planned start date is 15 September 2026 or as soon as possible after that date.

  • You will do most of your work at the City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
